Fun food!

Food is fun. Food is nutritious. Food is good.
These are my beliefs, and I LOVE food. Food, however, does not like me.
I’ve spent the last eleven years really digging on Japanese food: sushi, rice, seaweed, and anything containing those ingredients.
Recently though, I’ve been really into Indian food, as in India, not necessarily Native American food (but I like that stuff too). The reason: I have been a borderline vegetarian for about two years now, gluten free for about a year and a half, and I really try hard to stay lactose free as well. I still eat fish and other seafood, and I recently ate a bison burger (which was amazing) for the first time, because they are not fed glutenous grains such as barley, rye and wheat. Sometimes, though, I just have to take a bite of some cheese: I’m sure you wine and cheese lovers can relate.
So, after being raised to love my Italian and American heritage by my love for it’s foods, I am at a crossroads in my life to discover new (and old) traditional foods of other regions that aren’t so ‘meat and potato’ or ‘wheat and meat’ based.
They say: “Variety is the spice of life!” Right now, my spice is Hot Indian Curry…
Current food favorites: Palak Paneer (spinach with cottage cheese), Patra (spicy vegetable leaf rolls), and Khaman Dhokla (chickpea flour bread: like corn bread only better) – I’ve only bought these pre-prepared and have learned to mild down the spiciness with a little bit of garlic hummus.
